Dillatroit is a mapping project tracing the 'sampling lineage' of J Dilla's song 'Workinonit'. The final outcome uses a map of Detroit, J Dilla's home town, to map out the samples used on the original track, and the subsequent samples, until no more samples could be found. It was designed at a large format of A0 to use scale as a way to communicate the mass of information generated by tracing the samples used on one track.
A total of 71 samples can be traced, with the oldest samples coming from traditional folk in the 1800's.
